Message from Charlotte Chapter President
Holiday Inell Roberts
:

I am the newly elected President of the Charlotte Holidays, Inc.  I am looking forward with great anticipation to upholding the “Promises” and maintaining the “Partnerships” set forth by our founders. I am excited and eager to work with this wonderful, caring, and fun loving group of Holidays. I have been a Holiday since January 2007.   I have served as Vice President and Secretary.  The Charlotte Holidays chapter has been in existence for fifty years.  Two of its founders (Leila Lindsay and Jean Webber) are still active members of the chapter.

I am a graduate of South Carolina State University (B.S.), Winthrop University (M.Ed.), and UNCC (Administrative Certification.  I am a retired Administrator from Charlotte Mecklenburg schools.  I enjoy reading, traveling and playing cards.

I am the mother of Every Day Andrea Roberts Hunter and grand mother of Some Day Chandler A. Hunter.

THE HOLIDAYS CHARLOTTE CHAPTER, INCORPORATED

HISTORY

The Charlotte (NC) Chapter of the National Holidays, Incorporated organized in December 1963. Its beginning was a foursome which included Lelia Lindsay, Daisy Stroud, Jean Webber, and Lessie Deavers. They invited Lois Byers (National President), Margretha Rann, Laura Bell and Barbara Davis, (and later) Lucille Jackson, to join them. At the same time a group of ladies in Winston-Salem, NC which included Barbara Davis’ sister-in-law, Florence Creque, was also forming a Bridge group. Because of the close relationship, they decided to become sister chapters.

In 1965, the Holidays Bridge Club was incorporated by the State of North Carolina. Soon more chapters joined this organization. Holiday Barbara Davis was the 1st National President of the Holidays, Incorporated.

Currently the Charlotte Chapter of the Holidays, Incorporated has 13 active members, including charter members Holidays Lelia Lindsay and Jean Webber, and one Life Member, Holiday Barbara Davis. The Charlotte Chapter will celebrate their golden anniversary in 2013.
